As part of a drive to tackle one of the nation’s most critical environmental challenges, we partnered with the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) to shape brand and communication programmes that would deliver long-term impact across nuclear decommissioning in the UK.
Context
The NDA group leads the clean-up of the UK’s earliest nuclear sites through its companies: Sellafield Ltd, Nuclear Restoration Services, Nuclear Transport Solutions, and Nuclear Waste Services. The group safeguards operations, delivers remediation, drives innovation, and creates economic and community value.
How the group communicates its purpose and impact is fundamental to public trust, workforce engagement, and delivery of its world-leading mission.
The challenge
An evolving group structure created three clear challenges:
- Brand complexity – multiple organisations, unique locations and a multi-brand environment which required coherence if they were to deliver on the group’s key strategic goal.
- Stakeholder diversity – from local communities to Whitehall, all requiring clear and relevant communications.
- Cultural alignment – an overall traditional corporate culture, but with different ways of working and varying employee experiences, demanded a refreshed, modern approach.
Our impact
- United autonomy – rebrands and repositioning across the group’s companies delivered coherence and practical flexibility.
- Captivated audiences – creative campaigns boosted awareness, attracted talent and strengthened community relationships.
- Cultural change – inclusivity programmes, anti-bullying initiatives, and behaviour-led campaigns embedded ‘a better way’ of working group-wide.
Why it matters
The NDA group’s success relies on more than engineering excellence – it depends on clear, credible and captivating communication that builds trust and demonstrates value.
For us, it demonstrates that deep industry knowledge and experience really do matter when delivering for a critical industry.
