One of the greatest highlights of running a successful business has to be creating a new job opportunity for someone.
It’s especially satisfying when that someone’s fresh out of university, looking for their first big break, for that chance to make their mark, and to get themselves a foothold in the creative design industry.
It’s therefore a big Forepoint welcome to our brand-new recruit, Junior Designer Darcy Tromp.
Introducing Darcy
Darcy’s a northern lass born and bred, hailing from the Lancashire town of Blackburn.
She spent the last 4 years studying Graphic Design at UCLan, a course with an excellent reputation for producing great designers, advertisers and illustrators – including many of Forepoint’s existing employees.
Throughout school and college Darcy was always a very creative person, studying Art, Photography and Graphic Design at A Level. Her favourite subject by far was Graphic Design, so no surprises when she decided to pursue this as a career.
For Darcy, the best thing is about being a designer is: “The opportunity to learn something new every day. I enjoy branding, solving problems and bringing ideas to life.”
When she’s looking for inspiration, Darcy’s go-to tends to be branding/packaging books. Her favourite being the classic ‘Smile in the Mind’. She also loves following the work of design agencies worldwide, keeping her eyes peeled for the latest creative trends and ideas.
Her favourite project to date was one entitled ‘Sisterhood’, a self-initiated brief that addressed the real-world concerns of women embarking on solo travel. Her solution was a community support app to help get travellers safely from A to B.
And there’s more
Darcy’s a keen walker and hiker, especially if there’s a shoe shop at the end of the route.
She hates it when people constantly talk and ask questions during a movie, especially if it’s during one of her favourite movies ‘Snatch’ or ‘Catch Me If You Can’.
And after she’s tucked into her favourite Italian dish of spaghetti carbonara, Darcy can be found heading to rave nights where she enjoys dancing the night away to a bit of Rap, Indie, Hip Hop, House and Techno music. Who knows, one day, she may even find herself dancing to the tunes that our resident DJ Steve Jalapeno is playing.
So, what’s Darcy looking forward to most about working with Forepoint? “Getting to know the team, as well as developing and learning more skills as a designer.”
Good luck Darcy
It’s safe to say that we’re all looking forward to getting to know Darcy more too. Although, we’ll all have to try and remember not to constantly talk and ask questions if we ever go to the cinema with her.
