Our dedicated nuclear design team worked closely with Sellafield Ltd to create this extensive and informative document and we were delighted that it was awarded the prestigious Class Winner title in the External Publication of the Year Category at this years Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) 2012 Excellence Awards.
The Sellafield Plan represents the start of a new era for the Sellafield site, driving the site’s mission to make Sellafield safer, cleaner, more productive, more cost effective and a better neighbour. The Plan brings to life the work programmes on the Sellafield site in a way that is easy to use, update and understand. It was recognised as a real first for the communications in the industry.
The judges were extremely impressed by the approach taken in developing the final publication, saying: “The sheer magnitude of this project first struck the judges, but it was the collaborative process, the strategic approach to its execution and its effective use of a relatively small budget that clearly took it over and above other entrants in this category. One aspect that impressed the judges was the ring binder approach, enabling the document to act in a unique way with each user. Overall the entry was felt to be a step change in the role of communications, with peers seeing it as benchmark within their sector, highlighting the innovation of this entry.”
Emma Law – Corporate Affairs Manager for Sellafield Limited stated, “To have been short-listed for a CIPR Excellence Award was a huge honour. To then go on and win our category was a very proud moment. The Sellafield Plan was a real team effort and its success is a credit to all of the people across Sellafield Ltd, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, Nuclear Management Partners and Forepoint who put in hours, days and weeks of hard work in the run-up to its publication. From concept and design through to development and final delivery Forepoint worked tirelessly to ensure that the Sellafield Plan delivered our brief, to provide clarity on the work undertaken at Sellafield. Their ability to take complex information and help us to communicate it in a way that is easy to understand was invaluable in this project.”

The CIPR Excellence Awards prove that you are on top of your game and that you take best practice in your profession seriously, therefore to receive this accolade was a huge honor and we feel that there is no greater recognition of everyone’s hard work and achievement.
